¿Te gustaron las fotos? Aquí es mucho del itinerario lo hice para ver Habana.  Debes saber que aunque mostré fotos de lujas, la realidad es que la experiencia diaria de la mayoría de cubanos no es así.  No me quedé en un área adinerado y hacer cosas normales a veces fue difícil.  No quise tomar fotos de pobreza ni los aspectos más difíciles porque son nuestros hermanos simplemente en otro país y no quise faltar ningún respeto.  Puedes escribir o preguntarme por más información sobre mi experiencia allí.
 
                                                       Itinerario para Cuba / Cuban Itinerary
Created for the purposes of studying the culture, language and architecture of Cuba with an emphasis specifically on Habana and the experiences of Afro-Cubanos as they pertain to daily life.
 
Wednesday
  • Check-in/dinner at my casa particular
  • Cabs from the casa particular in Centro Habana to most areas in Habana should be between 5 and 10 CUCs.
 
Thursday
  • Explore El Museo Napoleónico, the largest collection outside of France and compare the fall of the French monarchy and rise of Napoleon to the revolution that brought about Castro’s own rise to power.
    • Address: Calle San Miguel No. 1 159, Esquina de Ronda y Sán Miguel, Vedado (ubicado al lado de la Universidad de la Habana)

  • Visit La Universidad de la Habana.  The library is in the center of the campus, walk in a large loop around the campus.

Friday (El Vedado)
  • Habana Bus Tour to explore the thoroughfares and public transport through the city.
    • Bus Hours: 9:00 - 18:00
    • Bus Cost: $2 CUC
    • Main pick-up location for the bus is in front of El Parque Central y El Hotel Inglaterra. Get off at La Plaza de la Revolución and El Centro Cultural (Los Almacenes de San José).  Maybe check out El Acuario (the aquarium)?
      • Step into the Plaza de la Revolución and see the Monumento de Jose Martí
        • Take the José Marti Monument up to the top for incredible views of the city.
        • Cost: $1 CUC per person
      • Los Almacenes de Sán José (Spanish Baroque Architecture)
        • Address: La Avenida del Puerto y Sán Ignacio
        • Open 09:00-20:00
  • Head to the Malecón to watch the sunset and then when it does, walk the Malecón to converse with locals.
 
Saturday (El Vedado)
  • Take T3 Bus for $5 CUCs to the Playas del Este.
 
Sunday (Centro Habana)
  • Explore design in the area of el Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas
    • Address: Calle 17 No. 502 esquina a Calle E Habana, Cuba

  • Callejón de Hamel at Noon to see a center for Afro-Cubanos
    • Address: On Hamel entre Aramburu y Hospital
    • Cost: $0 CUC but tips expected by musicians, dancers and artists
  • Enjoy dinner at El Paladar Mercaderes en la Calle de los Mercaderes.
 
Monday (Los Viñales)

Tuesday (Habana Vieja)
  • Visit La Cámara Oscura to get a panoramic view of the layout of Habana

Wednesday (Habana Vieja )
  • Convento e Iglesia de la Merced (Baroque Architecture)

    • Cost: Free
  • Artecorte Papito’s (historic barbershop)
    • Address: Calle Aguiar 10 entre Peña Pobre y Monserrate, Habana Vieja

  • Coche Mambí
    • Calle Oficios No. 211, entre Churruca y Muralla, Habana Vieja
 
Thursday
  • Appointment with professor from the Universidad de Habana
  • Walk El Prado de José Martí
  • Buy recuerdos in El Mercado Artesano
  • Take a ½ hour taxi ride in a classic car along the Malecón as the sun sets following El Prado to Miramar and then back along the Malecón to El Parque Central where you collected the car.  Cost $25 CUC.
  • Enjoy dinner at El Paladar Mercaderes en la Calle de los Mercaderes.
